Frequently Asked Questions.

Why a free trial lesson?

Think of your first lesson as a chance to get comfy. Get a feel for the space and find out how a normal singing lesson goes. For most of Chloe’s students, it’s their first ever singing lesson. Singing for other people can be scary! For a number of students, they don’t even get up to singing in their first lesson because it can feel daunting. In your free trial, you can find out if Chloe is the best teacher for you without the pressure to pay for your first lesson.

I don’t know if I can sing… can I really learn?

Absolutely! Think of your voice like a muscle - it gets stronger if you put in the effort to grow it. If you’re convinced that it’s too late for you, that is just not true! Training your voice and your ear is truely like training any muscle. As you learn more and become comfortable with your voice, singing will only become easier and even more enjoyable. Working on your singing voice is a life-long journey for everyone at every stage.

My child is showing interest in singing, are private lessons worth it?

Short answer - yes. If you take a look at everyone you’ve heard that seems to have a natural talent for singing, I think you’ll find that they grew up in a musical environment of some sort. Whether that be mum and dad listening to tunes in the background or singing at home just for fun. Building a tuned ear is a process; a process that feels way easier when you’re a kid. Society does however have a lot of anxiety showing up in younger and younger children. Some students want to learn but feel too anxious to join school choir or sing at the school talent show. Private lessons are the best avenue to finding their voice to give them the confidence they need to enjoy their singing.

How do lessons make me a better singer?

You would be surprised at how many intricate or obvious nuances there are to the singing voice. Think of your voice as a physical instrument - do you have any strings or frets? Nope. You’ve got arms and legs and everything else that comes with it. With an educated biological understanding of the body in relation to the singing voice specifically, and experience as a professional vocalist, Chloe really knows what she’s talking about. And it’s through learning how to effectively manipulate these little nuances of the body that singing becomes easier and better.

Do I have to be a performer or know how to read music?

NO! Singing is for everyone and each person has their own passions and goals. Learning to read sheet music is not necessary for everyone but if that’s something you’re interested in, Chloe will happily include that into your learning. For young students however, this will be a key focus in their lessons as they build a strong musical foundation.

Can I choose the type of songs I’d like to sing?

Of course! Singing is so personal and unique to every person. Chloe can help you find out what you enjoy and help you learn how to use your voice to align with your goals. Whether you’re looking to find a soft-gentle voice, a hard rock voice, a powerful-musical theatre voice, or a smooth jazz voice, Chloe will ensure that you have the tools to make that happen! She strongly believes in helping people find their own unique sound.
